Ever needed to supply a seedy person/company/website with your email address in order to get something from them (or perhaps just to placate them so you could extricate yourself from their company) — but you didn’t REALLY want to give them your primary email address? Look no further, have I got the solution for you! It’s a free service called Mailinator, and, damn, is it clever! Just make up an email address on the spot, anything @mailinator.com. You can change mail sent to that address without a password through Mailinator’s web site, and Mailinator will keep that mail for 3 hours, then bin it. So the next time you need to register and confirm that your email works before you’re allowed to download that white paper you wanted, you know what to do, my friend!
